Microsoft Teams Tutorials: Word Cloud Polls
In November 2021, Microsoft finally implemented the ability to create open-ended polls (known as Word Cloud Polls) in Microsoft Teams meetings. This means that you can create a poll where meeting participants could type in any response (instead of selecting from a multiple-choice list). What is even better, is that you could choose to display the results as a word cloud. If you don’t know what a word cloud is, it’s a visualization of words displayed in different sizes where the more frequent a word was cited, the larger and bolder it appears. Written Instructions Outlining How To Create a Word Cloud Poll in a Microsoft Teams Meeting
Step 1: First, you will need to schedule your meeting and send the invitation out. Once complete, click in to the meeting invite and click on the “+” which is the “Add a Tab Button”.
Step 2: Search for and select Microsoft Forms and click “Add”. On the next prompt screen, click “Save”. This will add a tab to the top of the meeting invite titled “Polls” and will allow you to create a poll before your meeting that can be launched during the meeting.
Step 3: Click “Create New Poll”
Step 4: Click on “Word Cloud Poll”.
Step 5: Enter a question in the question field. Check “Share Word Cloud With Respondents” if you want the poll responses to be visualized as a word cloud in real-time during the meeting and if you want meeting participants to be able to see them.
Step 6: Your poll has now been created and can be edited or launched from the meeting invite by clicking into the “Polls” tab.
How To Launch a Word Cloud Poll in a Microsoft Teams Meeting
Step 1: While in the meeting, click on the Microsoft Forms icon at the top of the meeting window.
Step 2: Select the word cloud poll that you want to launch and click launch. This will launch the Microsoft Teams word cloud poll for participants to respond to. The word cloud poll will be visible in the meeting window and in the chat pane.
Step 3: As participants enter their responses, the Microsoft Teams word cloud poll will display the results in real-time with the more frequently cited words growing in size relative to the others.
